Excel for Accounting and Bookkeeping - Intermediate

Course Description

This qualification covers the essential skills needed for carrying out bookkeeping transactions using specialised software. You will learn practical skills, from using accounting software, entering accounting transactions and producing reports. Completion of this course can enhance skills for use in your current workplace or support you in gaining employment as a clerical assistant, trainee bookkeeper, accounts clerk or finance assistant.

Course Requirements

This course is aimed at those who have previously attended a Level 1 computerised accounts course. You will need basic computing skills to attend this course and ideally some experience with Sage Accounts software. You should be able to follow spoken and written instructions, read handouts/activities and take part in group discussions.

Course Content

This qualification covers: set up accounting software, process sales and purchase transactions, perform bank and cash transactions, perform period end routine tasks and produce reports.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles to support you in achieving your goals. The teaching on this course will involve lectures, discussions and lots of worked examples. You will spend the majority of your time practising using a PC. Throughout the course, your tutor will give you verbal and written feedback on your progress towards the requirements of the qualification. The skills you are learning should be practised outside college so that you develop and progress. Your practical skills should be supplemented with the study necessary to successfully complete the range of different assessments.

Assessment

There will be continual assessment during the course as well as a final assessment for the certificate. On completion of this course, you will be awarded the AAT Level 2 Award in Accounting Software.

Next Steps and Progression

You can move on to further study in either: Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping qualification or Level 2 Foundation Certificate Accounting qualification.

Teachers are supported to ensure their materials are inclusive to meet all learners needs.
